JAWBONE MARINE SANCTUARY SEAGRASS MONITORING 
The Friends of Jawbone were out in force with a few welcome extras we picked up along the way to monitor the seagrass beds at Jawbone in February. A great crowd and a great effort. A special thanks to Stephanie Mills and Hugh Kirkman who were busy comparing methods which will lead to making Sea Search seagrass monitoring the best it can be. |

It has been a busy summer for Sea Search, with multiple events happening nearly every weekend, and the odd weekday session thrown in also. Having expanded our program to now include mangrove habitat, our Sea Search program is going from strength to strength and we hope to see many new faces over the coming months. Our thanks to our regular and dedicated team of Sea Searchers, who help make this program so successful. |

Victorian Subtidal Identification Kits
The fantastic new Victorian Subtidal ID Kits were recently launched at a series of species identification workshops at Queenscliff, Williamstown and Inverloch. A joint project between People & Parks Foundation and Reef Watch Victoria, these kits include underwater ID cards you can take while you do underwater surveys including # species of our local fish, invertebrates and plant life. |

Mangrove monitoring launched in Tooradin |

Seven enthusiastic volunteers met up early at the Tooradin picnic area car park on Saturday January 16th to try their hand at the new Sea Search program – Mangrove Monitoring. Dressed in shorts, and a variety of footwear they were willing to share with the mud, participants were first given a run down on the monitoring plan which is designed to collect data on tree height, width, condition and associated animals and plants as a way to measure the health of the mangroves over time. |

On Sunday the 28th June, 13 new Sea Search volunteers including students from the Leibler Yavneh Secondary College gathered at Rickett’s Point Marine Sanctuary to conduct monitoring of the plants and animals on the intertidal rock platform. The weather was kind and the discovery of beautiful algae and molluscs among the rocks enchanted all involved. |
