What to Wear?

Sea Search monitors different habitats and depending on what you are monitoring will determine what you need to wear.

Intertidal Rocky Shores
A sturdy pair of hard sole shoes which protect the foot are necessary - many volunteers wear dive boots or Crocs. In hot weather, a top, hat, and shorts are appropriate In colder weather, a warm top and protective jacket is necessary. At all times volunteers need to wear sunscreen and bring a bottle of water.

Seagrass Beds
Depending on the monitoring location, some seagrass can be monitored at low tide where there is little or no water. Protective shoes such as runners, Crocs or dive boots need to be worn.
Clothes are weather dependent, but ensure they are clothes that can get wet or muddy. Some seagrass beds can only be monitored by snorkelling or SCUBA. Volunteers need to be experienced in snorkelling and if using SCUBA, must hold a valid dive ticket.

Subtidal Rocky Reefs
Only volunteers who hold a SCUBA certificate can be involved in subtidal monitoring. Volunteers need to supply all their own SCUBA equipment.
