 People & Parks Foundation are delighted to welcome KEEN Footwear as our inaugural partner to the Green Connections program! KEEN became involved with People & Parks last year when their ‘KEEN to Finish for Charity’ team raised over $10,000 in the KEEN Outdoor Adventure race to support young people with chronic illness to participate in our WILD program and have also supported our Sea Search photographic competition.
The synergies between our organisations are immediately apparent; eco friendly products and the hybrid life philosophy that pervades all activities that both organisations undertake. 2009 KEEN Adventure Race Report |

 In this, the third running of the KEEN Adventure Race, it was the New Zealanders who again stole the crown from the Aussies.
37 teams of two (who ranged in standard from World Champion teams to complete novices doing their first multi-day event) started the event in picturesque Wye River on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria. The race was broken up into 4 separate stages with competitors unaware of the course until just hours before they started. Over the next 5 days, they completed stages lasting from 3 hours up to a 26 hour stage. Conditions on the course were particularly muddy; the unusually wet and cold week provided many challenges for competitors, forcing some to retire or ‘short course’ the race. Having trekked, mountain biked and paddled to Aire River and back through the Otway Ranges and along the Great Ocean Road, the event also tested the racers navigational skills as they searched checkpoints on the journey. New to the event this year was the addition of the 1 Day Exposé where the 5 day competitors were joined by an additional 35 teams who were having a go at just final day stage around Anglesea.
