November 2009 update

An extraordinary three year community project finally came to fruition on Tuesday 27 October, when the Woodend Children's Park was officially handed over to the public.

The Hon. Peter Batchelor MP and Macedon Ranges Mayor. John Letchford formally opened the park and paid tribute to the phenomenal community spirit that has made this volunteer project so successful.

For most attendees it was their first glimpse of the completed park, for others, it was a chance to see the area fully decked out with the community finally enjoying the space in the spring sunshine!

What originally started as a small project to provide simple play facilities for the 1200 local children in February 2007, has morphed into an astonishing $1 million project through generous donations of funding, goods, services and labour.

With over 400 hours of volunteer labour having been put into the park since construction began, the Woodend Children’s Park will soon be ready to open!  The park is almost double the size originally envisaged; this will be an inspiring park! Funds are tight and final donations are being sought to enhance the park with additional seating, sculptures, shelters, picnic tables, BBQ shelters, and extensive landscaping to complete the vision - can you help by making a donation?

May 2009 update

Since construction began in March, many local businesses have come forward to offer trades and services to help build Woodend Children's Park. The Construction Committee is calling for expressions of interest from local trades, services and materials providers, interested in helping to build the park. The database will be used to contact relevant providers at each stage of construction.
