Point Nepean National Park became a classroom for 130 local primary school students from across the Mornington Peninsula taking part in the Australia Post Kids Teaching Kids Week program on 1st September, which aims to inspire future environmental leaders.
 
The students were from eight local primary schools including Boneo Primary School, Dromana Primary School, Mt Martha Primary School, Eastbourne Primary School, Sorrento Primary School, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School, Osborne Primary School and The Peninsula School.
 
The initiative provided students with a unique opportunity to step out of the classroom for a day and swap roles with their teachers.  Students gave presentations and led workshops on their chosen environmental topics that included living sustainably, waste, recycling and biodiversity.   The day also involved students immersing themselves and learning about Point Nepean’s natural and cultural environment by taking part in field trips with natural resource leaders in areas such as Indigenous heritage, threatened and endangered species and the marine environment.
