A call from David Beder at JNF always comes with a sense of urgency.  As one of the first calls People & Parks received following the Black Saturday fires, David wanted to know how JNF could help us assist to rebuild and revegetate these areas in order to create a sense of place for those who were dislocated on that day and in the weeks to follow; a long term view of the ongoing challenges for these communities.  After the 2006 fires, the Victorian Division of JNF Australia donated nearly $20,000 to People & Parks for revegetation and recovery work so people could return to camping in the Grampians.  Connecting people back to their place; whether it be their homes or their favourite leisure space is important in the restoration of ‘normality’.

“In keeping with our philosophy of environmental education and connection, JNF Victoria has, for more than a decade, worked with Parks Victoria. In the wake of devastating Victorian bushfires in both 2006 and 2009, it was logical for JNF to partner with People & Parks Foundation to restore habitat and reconnect Victorians with their environment," says JNF Executive Director, Joe Krycer .  "We share both vision and passion and look forward to working together for the benefit of generations of Victorians".  Click here for more information on the work of JNF. The donation is a fantastic start to this project.  We thank JNF Australia who is our largest community organisation donor.
