| Caitlin's Retreat put to the test |
|
Our first family of three included two girls; 3 years and twelve months old. They particularly loved visiting Rosie and Daisy, the Retreat’s friendly sheep. Our next family who had two boys, loved walking in the park, playing scrabble and running around in the open space. The families adored the welcoming fire and relaxed atmosphere of the farm. People & Parks Foundation have been inundated with the donation of goods and services as well as hands on volunteers to get the Retreat ready to go. Graeme Giddings, one of our committee members has been a tireless worker, ensuring we have a stream of gifts rolling in to support this great initiative. Graeme is currently off on the Variety Bash in WA – one of those people who never stops supporting others in need. Tennis Victoria has joined our supporters; donating lots of racquets and tennis balls for our visitors to use if they feel like a bit of sport. Our next phase is to get our farm operational with our vegie garden and orchard needing some work and planting out as well as increasing the number of animals on the farm for visitors to interact with. Our day time education program will kick off soon so with the help of our partners Interchange who are assisting us with family referrals, we expect to be at full capacity in the near future. |
