suffolk sheep

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Daisy and Rosie; two (very friendly) Suffolk sheep that have been generously donated to Caitlin’s Retreat and will form part of our Children’s Farm.

Emily Haywood and her family, who live in nearby Kangaroo Ground, first contacted us last year, when she saw our story in the local newspaper and were keen to donate their sheep to our cause. They arrived a few weeks ago and are settling in well. We have a nice paddock overlooking the Yarra River which now has a good supply of green grass after the long hot summer. The girls share their space with the odd kangaroo or two and everyone seems at home there.

Our site manager, spent a few days fixing fences before they arrived, but already there has been a break out. The pair came wandering up to our site manager as he worked in the shed on the other side of the property. Thankfully due to their placid nature, it was an easy stroll back to their paddock and some extra wire on a section of fence and all is well.

Things are progressing well at Caitlin’s Retreat and we are looking forward to expanding our range of animals, veggie garden and activities around the property, to make this a truly enjoyable change to life in the city.
