Geelong's Active in Parks |
|
Geelong’s Active in Parks, a Healthy Parks Healthy People program, was launched on 19 September by the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, the Hon Nick Wakeling MP. This pilot program aims to connect our community to parks and open spaces as a means of enhancing their physical and mental health. This program will work with doctors and community groups to encourage park visits in the Geelong region which is blessed with a multitude of beautiful parks, trails, beaches and rivers. - A program of activities and events occurring in the great outdoors will also be available to the whole community and details can be found at www.activeinparks.org.
- Active in Parks has specifically targeted programs for individuals and groups, who may need extra support and help to get out into a park – for example, people with chronic disease, people at risk of developing diabetes, young mothers, migrants and at-risk youth.

What a glorious winter morning it was when we launched our National Green Jobs Corps program in partnership with MaxEmployment – Box Hill and Holmesglen TAFE at our Caitlin’s Retreat site.
Nillumbik Mayor, Councillor Ken King, arrived early and was keen to share stories of his recent experiences in nature and give thanks to our enthusiastic group of youths, who through this National Green Jobs Corps program are helping to preserve and rehabilitate this environmentally significant property and adjoining parklands. Step out of the office for the day, come and get your hands dirty and then leave satisfied, knowing that you have helped create a healthier environment for us all to enjoy.
This is Green Connections. Whether it is through corporate volunteering or establishing an ongoing park partnership, there are many options available for your business and if none of our existing programs are suitable we can customise a corporate volunteer program to suit your requirements.
